Continuing Adult Faith Formation
According to the US Conference of Catholic Bishops document, Called and Gifted for the Third Millennium, "We all share a universal call to holiness." Part of that call is the personal responsibility to be educated in faith.
At St. Vincent de Paul Parish, we offer educational opportunities throughout the year. You can obtain additional information by contacting the Parish Office (330-0220).

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
The Adult Catechumenate, also referred to as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), is a community based, four phase process to nurture and guide adults who are seeking information and ultimately initiation into the Catholic faith. The four phases of RCIA are Inquiry, Catechumenate, Enlightenment, and Mystagogia.
The length of time to complete the process depends on each participant's individual needs; however, conversion and initiation usually revolve around the liturgical calendar. The Easter season is the traditional time when adults are initiated into the faith through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and reception of the Holy Eucharist. After adults have been accepted into the Catechumenate, they are required to gather with the RCIA team weekly for catechetical instruction and spiritual formation and to join together for communal prayer and reflection on the Scriptures at Sunday liturgy.
RCIA does more than simply impart knowledge about the Roman Catholic Church. It also seeks to welcome new members into the communal family of our parish and the Universal Church. We share our experiences of living today’s faith at St. Vincent de Paul's through our liturgies, our spiritual lives, and our ministries of service.
If you have been considering becoming a Catholic, or if you have been away from the Church and want to return, please contact the pastor or one of the parish deacons.
